David and Lili's World Tour

INDIA

November 2018 - Kolkata, Darjeeling, and Sikkim

From Budapest Hungary, Lili flew to London, where she used to live, and I flew to Kolkata. I had one month to kill before meeting Kiwi mates to play chinlone in Myanmar, so I decided to spend that time in Sikkim, India, exploring by motorcycle... I really do enjoy travelling solo like this, and this trip feels extra special because I began this World Tour blog with a one-way ticket to India in 2003, and that's where I first got onto big motorcycles. Sikkim is a wonderful place, 100 percent organic food, friendly Buddhists, Himalayan mountain views, and convenient infrastructure. Darjeeling is also a cool town that I enjoyed exploring. The locals play a game called chungi that is just like hacky sack, my favorite sport, so I met some cool locals who showed me around. I found motorcycles in small towns together with my rooms, by negotiating with the hotel owners. So whenever there was no shop in town that hired out bikes, I always found someone with a local friend who would take my money. This was a fabulous way to kill a month
